Big big day for the Reds. Liverpool defeated Manchester City in what was an electric game. The first half came to a close with the teams locked at a 1-1 draw. The second half was all Liverpool though. They looked as though they were atop the table, not City.

In a role reversal, it was Liverpool that was swarming on defense. It was Liverpool who set the tone and pace. Manchester City could not match the speed of Liverpool. The ever steady Kevin De Bruyne was no where to be found. City lacked pace and creativity. What they didn’t lack was defensive mistakes. Otamendi and Stones gave performances reminiscent of last year. Its very trick or treat with them. Otamendi turned the ball over, Stones wasn’t strong on the ball, both gave way to goals for Liverpool. The final goal Liverpool scored was caused by a turnover from City goalkeeper Ederson. He came out to play a ball that ended up being directed right into Salah (68′)who chipped it in from 50-60 yards.

The Salah goal was important as City tried unsuccessfully to tie the game. City scored 2 late goals (Silva 84′ & Gundogan 90’+1′) but it wasn’t enough. The game ended 4-3 with Liverpool hanging on. The unbeaten streak for Man City is over. Do I think this means the 15 point lead will diminish? No. City are still going to win the league. There’s no other team that can beat City with pace like Liverpool. Its just a dent in the armor.
